Jamie was sometimes referred to as an “Old Soul Trapped in a Young Person’s Body”. "The old soul doesn't see the purpose of pursuing things that can be easily taken away from them. Additionally, old souls have little time and interest for the short-lived things in life, as they bring little meaning or long-lasting fulfillment for them." This description was taken from TheOdysseyOnline.com and really does describe what Jamie was like.
On the homepage of her blog, she described herself as "I'm one of those creative, goofy types. I laugh. A lot. Maybe too much. I'm into design, tech, and art." She loved to read, photography, watch old movies, listen to various genres of music, draw, paint, blog, and continually tried learning new things. With a little help initially, she taught herself how to crochet doilies, newborn stocking caps, etc. She also loved to cook from scratch, bake desserts, etc. She was taking lessons to learn how to use a sewing machine. These are all the types of crafts that the usual 30-something don't typically learn anymore.
She loved her Cairn Terrier, Josie, who was always at her side - especially when she was doing her vest treatments. If Jamie was having a coughing fit, Josie would go to check on her to see if she was doing okay. She volunteered some of her spare time with the Col. Potter Cairn Rescue Network - a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing Cairn Terriers and other small terriers or their mixes that are homeless or soon-to-be homeless.
She loved photography. She loved taking pictures of their dog Josie, of the birds on their deck or nesting in the rose bush in their front flower bed, the baby rabbits nesting in the front yard, and any memory she wanted to save.
When she was feeling well, she loved traveling with her husband Jarrod. They went on cruises, traveled to different cities in the U.S., enjoyed theatre together, and tried new cuisine when they had the opportunity. They had been married for 7 years when she passed away.
She had always accepted that, even though she had CF, this was the hand she was dealt and she was going to make the best of it!
